Finally, after those extremely short teasers asking you to turn off your mobile phones when in the cinemas, the theatrical trailer has arrived, though in YouTube. Stick around and I'll let you know when the movie site goes live.
In the Star Awards last year, Mark Lee jested that Fann Wong was his (screen) wife, and this is it. The trailer runs 3 minutes long, and you can't help but notice that there are slight similarities to the Korean movie My Wife is a Gangster - here Fann Wong plays a loan shark with whom Mark Lee's effeminate character marries. Shot partly in Malaysia, expect the usual not-so-subtle jibes at the gahmen this time (such as the dig on the escalating prices of cigarettes), and one perennial favourite from Neo's previous movie, the security guard, makes a return too.
But what I think I will enjoy, are the songs that have become hallmarks of a Jack Neo film. The trailer gives you a glimpse of what's to come, but I'm looking forward to more to crack me up. Making its premiere during this year's Lunar New Year holidays in February, it's up against tough competition such as Jay Chou's Kung Fu Dunk, and the highly awaited Stephen Chow's CJ7. Let's hope it still makes a decent box office dent!
