Get Vegucated for a New You in the New Year

After a successful North American screening tour, director Marisa Miller Wolfson’s award-winning documentary film Vegucated will be released to DVD on Monday, January 9, 2012 (Retail price $20). A laugh-out-loud funny, entertaining, and eye-opening look at the vegan lifestyle, Vegucated takes viewers on a revealing journey far beyond a few tofu food substitutions as three daring individuals share one common adventure and ultimately discover their own paths in creating a kinder, cleaner, greener world, one bite at a time.

Vegucated tells the timely story of Ellen, Brian, and Tesla, three meat and cheese lovers from different backgrounds who accept a challenge to dump all animal products for six weeks in an effort to lose weight, look good, and feel healthy. They are surprised to discover that so much more than steak is at stake and that the fate of the world may fall on their plates. As they begin to uncover the hidden sides of animal agriculture, they soon start to wonder whether solutions offered in films like Food, Inc. go far enough. Before long, they find themselves risking everything to expose an industry they supported just weeks before.

The DVD release is scheduled on a Monday in honor of “Meatless Monday,” a growing global campaign to encourage people to cut meat from their diet for one day a week to benefit human health and the environment. As this and other pro-plant food campaigns gain traction in the mainstream, Miller Wolfson hopes the DVD release will reach a wider audience.

“We are thrilled to have had such a fantastic response to the film at screenings this fall,” said director Marisa Miller Wolfson. “Now we could not be more excited to launch the DVD. As a former meat lover who made the switch to veganism in my own life and experienced the benefits first hand, I am so thrilled to be able to share this life-changing information with more people around the country and help turn this movie into a movement.”

Awarded the Best Documentary award at the Toronto Independent Film Festival 2011, Vegucated has gone on to win awards throughout the country all while educating crowds from coast to coast. The DVD is currently available for pre-order at the Vegucated website (www.getvegucated.com/store/) and will be released on January 9th.
