ScreenSingapore returns for its second edition, and there's no lack of the usual glamour associated with red carpet events, except that it's noticeably trimmed this time round with the number of screening nights reduced to just three, one star-studded gala for each night, with two of them being World Premieres. The number of invited guests were limited too to those who were directed involved in the film in question, compared to the invitation of all and sundry who were available for a fee last year.
And kicking things off is the World Premiere of The Last Tycoon, Wong Jing's latest film starring Chow Yun Fat, Sammo Hung, Francis Ng and Huang Xiaoming, amongst others. And out of the four mentioned, only Chow made it today, in addition to the supporting cast, director and producer Andrew Lau, while the rest were made up of the usual industry bigwigs.
And I guess the only way to present this, is through a picspam:
with some videos from the onstage Q&A, in Mandarin and Cantonese. It's a pity though that this was limited, as the sound engineers for the event didn't have a clue to isolate the microphones at the different stages to different sets of speakers, instead having everything mixed and blared through the same, making whatever was said at a particular stage indistinguishable from the other.
