Bangkok Knock Out Knocked Out in Singapore

For those not in the know, I am an action junkie, and have always kept my eyes peeled for straight up action flicks from Thailand, with the likes of Born to Fight and Dynamite Warrior starring Dan Chupong, who also had the villain's role in Ong Bak 2 and 3, in addition to other Tony Jaa flicks.

Panna Rittikrai of Born to Fight fame is back with Bangkok Knock Out boasting death defying action with close quartered fisticuffs, and seriously, tell me if your inner action junkie isn't excited by this trailer:


Alas before the first reel got unspooled here, it suffered the same fate as Fireball: Muay Thai Dunk and got itself slapped too with a rating advisory of NC16 - Passed Clean (EDITED)

Further checks on the same ratings board website reveal the following:

This film contains excessive fighting sequences as violence is portrayed throughout the film. Due to the overall accumulative impact of violence, the film is rated M18 with advisory “Violence”.

The film has been edited to NC16 (Violence) for theatrical release at the request of the film distributor.

So the buck has been passed. It's originally M18 unedited, but "at the request of the film distributor", it's edited to NC16 so that more kids can pack the theatres to watch a neutered product that got knocked out in the nuts. Teenage boys are taught to kill during National Service at age 18, but no, they can't get to watch unadulterated choreographed action on the big screen lest they go berserk in camps. Safety first, you know?
